Disappointing and bad writing my ass. All of the idiots that say this show was bad haven't reeled that if you watch it from start to finish then all of the things that happened in the final season made sense and would have happened. however if you don't then you see the season and have forgotten what caused the season to go this way. As I have watched the box set form start to finish again I completely understood and liked what happened in season 8.

As someone who saw Danny go mad miles was because of what happened. Several times her convictions were tested pretty hard. Nobody gets out of that well. Noone in GoT are that virtuous and stays alive or on that path. And it'd be boring. No, I didn't like that the entire season (and especially her heel-turn) was so convoluted, rushed and just...bad. But the plot points are technically fine. Everything around them was just garbage.

Now over a year since I watched Series and as being bit ill have just binged watched all of it trying to give it a fair trial but I just think it is even worse that I originally thought it was. There is so much where do you start, for me it has to be the night time cavalry charge of Dothraki into absolute darkness FFS... when has there ever been in the history of war a cavalry charge a night time, most horses would refuse as they can't see where they are going and even accepting it is fantasy Dothraki were meant to be very accomplish horse warriors who were reknown for strategy and fighting skills - are going to blindly charge into an enemy with no idea of their numbers, what defences do they etc. Then the 50:1 odds at the end with the Army of the Dead fighting Jon and the others - just pure rubbish.

If you end the show immediately after season 1 episode 7 literally nothing changes!! Nothing that happens after episode 7 matters at all.
Think about it. At the end of episode 7 ned is basically king. If he takes the throne as he should and his son Robert falls off a horse the next day and dies..... who inherits the thrown when ned dies? His oldest son! So 7 seasons worth of stuff happens but absolutely none of it matters!! Nothing, not a single thing changed anything at all and none of it mattered.

Best ending, last of the Stark plays* everyone gets ready, Danaerys, Jon, Jorah, Tyrion, Sansa, Aria, Bran, Theon, everyone... slowly the beginning theme starts* Jon in the front on a field, everyone in two rows with the Starks, Wildlings and the north on Jons side, the rest on the other, in the row in the middle Danearys in a beautifull dress led by Jorah walking towards the front in between the rows, they both stand in front next to Jon is Ghost and next to Danaerys her last two dragons and Sam speaks out there names and the vows, they kiss and everyone with in the front Tyrion, Jorah, Daario, Varis (finally smiling), Grey Worm, Missandei (other row) Sansa, Aria, Bran, TormundTheon, Ed etc, after the kiss a slow short clip of Cersei and Jaime and swipes up to the throne room redecorating and the iron throne is being destroyed... 2 new little good designed are being placed and Jon and Danaerys equely sit next to each other on the same height and amount of power Jorah and good soldiers around them, and Jon and Danaerys look at each other and look back at everyone cheering and slowly going up towards the ceiling the camera goes black and the old theme starts to play with the title screen (Tormhnd and the wildlings stay on the south of the wall close to winterfell)

No dude you are 100% right about Arya. She had the thickest plot armor in the show by far. And it WAS because of the whole 'girls rule' narrative. The Waif offed her clearly but F human anatomy for our lord and savior Arya, and to have her end the whole white walker threat with a simple jab to the gut, pathetic writing and girl pandering

You're wrong about Daenerys. Did you even pay attention to the show? Her being a bad ruler was foreshadowed when the freed slaves started writing Mhysa Is A Master on the wall after she abandoned them to die in the ruins of their civilization when things got too hard to deal with.

There's a chance that the books won't even get finished if you think about it.
George R.R. Martin is 71 years old (according to Google), and with the current pacing of the books releases, he might be around 80-85 when he's finished, provided he'll reach that age. Didn't mean to sound so sinister, but I'm genuinely concerned about a possible bittersweet ending, without the sweet part.

I was also really disappointed that Jaime and Brienne had a romance in the final season. It would have been nice to just see mutual, platonic respect between a man and a woman. Maybe in the books I can see it happening, but the actors in the show just never really had that chemistry.
Kira Carver
Kira Carver - 11 dager siden
@Tommy Vo yeah, I know it's an unpopular opinion. But, at least if they were gonna have them get together, don't have Jaime completrly revert to square one by completely abandoning Brienne and breaking her heart.

@Tommy Vo oh i agree. I just don't think the actors portraying them had chemistry. But the pairing was definitely there in the writing.
Tommy Vo
Tommy Vo - 12 dager siden
I honestly think that Jaime and Brienne has been the one true romance that both the shows and books have conveyed. We see other romances play out (Jon/Ygritte, Jon/Dany), but none like Jaime and Brienne. I get the argument that we should force relationships between characters just because one’s a guy and one’s a girl, but their romance really does fulfill their respective character arcs - Jaime finding love other than his manipulation sister, and Brienne being able to be loved as a woman, after having believed she was too unappealing to be loved as one. It’s a beautiful thing that got messed up by D&D

Just gonna say I could totally see book Cersei losing her shit, breaking subtlety, and using wildfire on the city. The chapter where Jaime watches her burn the tower of the Hand kind of foreshadows it.

This guy brought up some good points. The other points were just stupid 🙄 I mean wtf u mean pointless fighting? The fighting follows in the storyline plus you try creating the script to the show without the books being finished by the last season of GOT. Kinda hard and stressful when basically the whole world is watching and expecting a lot from the show.

I'm starting to think that giving D&D the rights to write the entire show, based on whether or not they figured out Jon's parentage wasn't such a great idea. I wouldn't be shocked if they had just searched out some ASOIAF forums for a couple of days

I am an animal lover. I know that when an animal dies in a movie it's not real but I don't like it just the same. So Game of Thrones killed off all except two dire wolves and two dragons. I stoped reading the books when they killed off the second wolf. Since I knew what happened in the book I knew it would happen in the series so I never got involved with them.

I am so pleased that this narcissist stormborn woman was killed at the end and did not succeed to rule the world. The fact that she claimed to get what was HERS disgusts me. Of course nothing was hers, apart from an overblown and overbearing ambition she had nothing to offer the world. Just like Cersei, but not even as pretty, but good in nude. No one deserved to rule the new world better than the visionary boy who never killed anyone throughout the series, the purest of all characters in the story and a temperament as well as historical perspective to rule with benevolence and establish justice. Those who don't like the last series and the ending are simply not intelligent enough to understand the true message of the whole epic..
mysteryman2024 - Måned siden
You really didn't see all the signs that Dany was bad? They were given off constantly, I knew she was going to be evil in season 2 or 3. She's completely fixated on the iron throne, and is all "I'm the breaker of chains" and whatnot until someone is standing in her way, could be a problem for her, or she just doesn't like them. Then she'll have them killed no problem.
She's a hypocrite. Every other ruler in the show is bad (for the most part), but they know what they are and don't try to hide it. Dany is so hypocritical, that my biggest problem with season 8 is that she died way too quickly.
